Undress AI: How Artificial Intelligence Creates Fake Intimate Images and How to Protect Yourself

Imagine someone takes a photo from your Instagram or TikTok profile and uses artificial intelligence to make it look as if you are naked. This technology is known as Undress AI or DeepNude software. The term means roughly 'undressing with artificial intelligence.' Such tools violate personal privacy and represent a form of digital violence. This article explains how the technology works, why it is dangerous, and how you can protect yourself.

Undress AI tools exist as apps, bots, and websites. Typically, a user uploads a photo of a person dressed normally, such as a portrait. The AI then estimates what the body beneath the clothing might look like, drawing on large image databases. It inserts invented body parts so that the result appears authentic. The outcome is often so realistic that outside viewers cannot easily tell the image is fake.

Deepfake nude images are made for several reasons. Cyberbullying aims to humiliate or intimidate a person. Sextortion involves blackmail, where perpetrators threaten to publish the image unless money or other demands are met. Harassment is often about exercising power and frightening others. In some Telegram groups and forums, users even boast about how easily such images can be produced and shared.

Girls and young women are disproportionately affected, but anyone can be targeted. Because the source material is an ordinary photo posted publicly, the risk applies broadly to people who share images online.

Even though the image is fake, victims often feel as though they were photographed nude without consent. This can cause deep distress.
